DLF has commenced construction on the Mall of India in Gurugram, a large retail destination planned for DLF Cyber City. Sriram Khattar, the head of DLF's rental business, confirmed that work on the mall has started, moving a project listed among the developer's upcoming properties into its build phase.
The mall will span about 25 lakh square feet, making it one of the biggest retail developments planned in the city. The estimated investment is around Rs 2,200 crore, and the mall is expected to become operational in 2029. For shoppers, diners and office-goers in the area, that scale promises a wide mix of brands, dining and everyday convenience under one roof.
The site sits in DLF Cyber City, a district known for its glass-fronted offices and lively retail streets. NH-8 runs close by, and the Cyber City metro station is a short walk from DLF CyberHub, the developer's existing mall in the same locality. The Rapid Metro link connects the district to the wider Delhi Metro network, while Indira Gandhi International Airport is roughly 9 km away.
The neighbourhood already has plenty of energy. DLF CyberHub is about 0.5 km away, and Ambience, Sahara and MGF Metropolitan malls are all within 5 km. The Oberoi and Trident hotels are only a five-minute drive, and corporate offices of major consulting and accounting firms sit right next door, overlooking CyberHub.
Services are close at hand too. St. Stephen's Hospital is about 1.5 km away, and The Shri Ram School, Moulsari is around 2.2 km from the site, which suits families living and working nearby. Medanta The Medicity is about 9 km away for specialist care.
DLF brings a strong track record to the project. Founded in 1946 and formerly known as Delhi Land & Finance, the company reported revenue of about Rs 69.58 billion in 2024. It manages around 4.5 million sq ft of retail assets through its joint venture with GIC, and its commercial portfolio in Gurgaon of over 40 million sq ft holds LEED Platinum certification.
As construction moves ahead, the Mall of India adds another major chapter to DLF's retail presence in Gurugram. Following the developer's nearby Summit Plaza, which has also been soft-launched, the mall will strengthen a retail corridor that is set to serve the city for years to come.
